Witold Modrzejewski

Witold Modrzejewski (b. 1990, Siemianowice Śląskie) is a visual and graphic artist working with objects and spatial installations.
He graduated from the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznań (UAP) and also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice and at Marmara University in Istanbul. His work has been exhibited in Poland and internationally, including at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, BWA Zielona Góra and Galeria Miejska Arsenał in Poznań, as well as in group exhibitions in Germany, Italy and India. He is also a curator and organiser of exhibitions and public-space projects.
He is Head of the Graphic Arts Studio VI – Spatial and Intermedia Graphics. He has served as Dean of the Faculty of Graphic Arts since 2022. He is a co-creator of the project BUNT. New Expressions and of the International Poznań Graphic Arts Biennale, and a member of the 404 group. He has collaborated, among others, with the Polish Institute in New Delhi, the Malta Festival and the Animator Festival.
His practice engages with current issues in contemporary art, including new media, post-artistic practices, archives and social engagement. In his work, he often focuses on the period of political and economic transformation in Poland as well as on present-day social problems. He frequently uses found materials-remnants and offcuts that carry traces of their previous meanings.
